The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2

If you are anything like me you cannot wait for August 8th 2008 (8.8.08). The magical day when we will see the second installment of the movie adaptation of Ann Brashares’ beloved young adult novel series, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. In preparation for the film I did a little research on the origin of those mystical jeans, that seem to fit everyone perfectly. What I found was a pleasant surprise.

It seems that the history of the “Traveling Pants” goes much further than the spooky attic where the girls found them. Some believe that the jeans were the handy work of Jesus Christ Himself. Legend has it that the Messiah passed the magical jeans on to Mary Magdalene because, “she just couldn’t find anything that didn’t make her but look huge.”

Mary Magdalene Trembles at the thought of trying on another pair of jeans.

The story of the Traveling Pants does not end there. The Priory of Sion was a secret society set up in 1099 to protect the secret of the jeans. Priory of Sion loosely translates to Sisterhood of Traveling Pants. Former grandmasters of the Priory of Sion include Leonardo Da Vinci. If you examine the sculpture below, you may notice a hint to the secret of the jeans. Looks like in addition to tanks and flying machines, Da Vinci also invented a few fashion trends (skirt with jeans under it anyone).

Evidence of Da Vinci's involvement with the Priory of Sion?
The Priory of Sion was responsible for installing the Merovingian line of Frank kings. The Merovingians are believed to be descendants of the original Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Mary Magdalene and her 3 friends Bridget, Carmen and Tibby, the rebel.

A Merovingian king is initiated into the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
The jeans have been kept a secret for so long by the Merovingian run fashion industry. If everyone looked great in every pair of jeans, it would be the end of fashion, as we know it. But who knows what will happen now that the new Sisterhood has the pants in their hands.
